«RosEcoMat Kenaf» is a board insulation material made from renewable plant-based raw materials for non-load-bearing building structures. The material contains no phenol-formaldehyde resins. The resilient boards can be cut to size and installed between timber or metal framing members.
Main advantages of «RosEcoMat Kenaf»:
- Thermal insulation. Low thermal conductivity helps reduce heat loss in winter and heat transfer into buildings in summer. The required overall insulation thickness is determined by the building design and climatic conditions.
- Sound absorption. The fibrous structure absorbs sound energy, particularly in the mid- and high-frequency ranges. Actual sound insulation performance depends on the lining, airtightness of joints and the presence of acoustic bridges.
- Moisture exchange. Hemp fibres absorb and release water vapour, contributing to humidity regulation within a properly designed building assembly.
- Fewer installation operations. One 100 mm board replaces two 50 mm layers when installing insulation of the same overall thickness. This reduces the number of cutting, fitting and installation operations.
- Dimensional stability. When correctly installed and protected from moisture, the boards retain their shape without significant shrinkage over long-term use.
Applications of «RosEcoMat Kenaf»:
- External framed walls. The primary application is insulating residential buildings, holiday homes and outbuildings between framing studs. An additional cross-layer of insulation may be included where necessary.
- Internal partitions. Filling partition frames to reduce airborne sound transmission between rooms. Multi-layer plasterboard lining or other suitable sheet materials are recommended for improved sound insulation.
- Pitched roofs and loft conversions. Installation between rafters, either independently or together with additional insulation layers. Lower-density boards are generally more economical for these structures. Where reduced weight is required, «RosEcoMat Kenaf Light» and «Kenaf Extra Light» may be considered.
- Floors and joisted structures. Insulation of attic floors, intermediate floors, suspended timber floors and floors above unheated spaces. Boards are placed between structural members beneath the flooring, without being subjected to direct service loads. Where higher density is unnecessary, «Kenaf Extra Light» may be considered.

Technical specifications of «RosEcoMat Kenaf»:
- Type and supply format: thermal insulation boards.
- Primary raw material: hemp fibre.
- Board dimensions: 1000×600×100 mm.
- Density: 32 kg/m³.
- Thermal conductivity λ: 0.036 W/(m·K).
- Thermal resistance R at 100 mm thickness: 2.78 m²·K/W.
- Specific heat capacity: 1850 J/(kg·K).
- Combustibility: combustible material.
Thermal resistance is calculated using the formula R = d/λ for a homogeneous insulation layer. The thermal performance of an entire wall or roof depends on the composition of the building assembly. A 100 mm layer has twice the thermal resistance of a 50 mm layer of the same material.
Installation and operating conditions:
- Check that the framing dimensions are compatible with the selected insulation thickness.
- Cut the boards with a small allowance to ensure a snug fit.
- Install the material without gaps or excessive compression of the fibres.
- On the exterior side, provide a windproof, vapour-permeable superdiffusion membrane compatible with the building assembly.
- On the interior side, install an airtight vapour barrier or vapour control layer. A variable vapour permeability membrane should be used based on a moisture performance assessment.
- Seal membrane joints and connections. Provide the specified ventilation gaps for ventilated façades and pitched roofs.
Vapour permeability does not replace protection against atmospheric moisture, leaks or uncontrolled water vapour ingress. To preserve insulation performance, prolonged wetting must be prevented and the building assembly must be able to dry. Membranes should be selected according to climate, the composition of all layers and the direction of drying, preventing moisture condensation within the insulation.
«RosEcoMat» specialists can help calculate the required number of boards, select the appropriate thickness and material for a particular building assembly, clarify order and delivery costs, and provide installation recommendations.
